The study by the United Nations University suggests climate change is making desertification the greatest environmental challenge of our times. Desertification is a type of land degradation in which a dry land region becomes increasingly arid, losing its bodies of water, vegetation and wildlife. As dry lands grow further, people who live in marginal lands encounter economic problems and though living difficulties. This situation have put people on the way of leaving their current homes seeking a better life in another cities and lands. This phenomena resonates desertification by itself. NEXUS D-Habitat is a network of habitats in response to this reaction, preventing people from leaving marginal lands but encouraging them to live there. NEXUS Nodes are proposed to work with each other, drawing a line of activities around degraded lands and preventing further growth of these areas. each node goes underground reaching underground water and is making a micro climate within that facilitates living in the arid desertified areas.
